  2. I know John Fogerty (I've even seen him live) but I've never heard of Dan Fogelberg.

Did he play any yacht rock or just soft rock?

In this Yuletide season, the song "Same Old Lang Syne" will be that much more bittersweet.

  4. He was like, soft yacht rock. Think of a yacht with cushions all along the outside of it, so that it never gets scratched when you bring it into port.

    He sang this song:

Longer than blah blah blah blah blah blah

Longer than dee dee do dee dee do

    something something lovvvve

It's a very gentle song, perfect for a night of lovemaking in front of the fireplace.

This makes me wonder--how can someone recognize "good" music if they don't know "bad" music? By "bad" I mean uninteresting, schmaltzy, predictable treacle. No offense to the recently deceased, of course.

  6. I don't think anyone has said he made "good" music. Can't we mourn his death without attacking his craftsmanship? Have a heart, Anonymous.

  7. I don't think it's too soon to attack his craftsmanship. In fact we should have launched that attack weeks ago.

I love Dan Fogelberg and his music.

And it's, "something something in love with yoooooooooou."

Sigh. Who will fill his shoes?! I mean, I guess his shoes already were filled since he had not had a hit in 20+ years, but still...

Oops--I forgot the first rule of DC Rock Club--"Never make fun of dead one hit wonders from the 70s." I guess I have to keep all of my Mungo Jerry material to myself.

He was a 3-hit wonder, thank you very much!

  11. Mungo Jerry's dead?

Mungo Jerry is a group, not a person, right?

I don't want to do that whole...yeah, Jethro Tull, he's cool...thing. Although maybe there was a tour bus crash and the whole group died.

If true I'm going to play that "Summertime" song, but really slow, like a dirge.

Mungo Jerry is a band and they are all still alive (I guess--who would know the difference!!) but I thought "Mungo Jerry" sounded better than Jim Croce.
