It is no secret that in the 1990s, I was a sucker for the alternative female indie rockers. Still am, I guess. The only band that I saw at the old 9:30 club (when it was downtown at 930 F Street) that I can remember by name is Belly.
Here is Tanya playing Slow Dog - Andy Warhol on keyboards.
The current line up of The Breeders (sans Donelly) will be playing the Black Cat August 21st, btw.
The only band I saw at the old club is Drivin' and Cryin'. We drove up from Fredericksburg when I was in college. Ever go to the old Bayou in Georgetown? We saw The Ramones there. I saw a bunch of bands at the old black cat.
ReplyDeleteWhat other old venues are there? The Warehouse Next Door...also The Metro or something. I forget what it was called.
drivin and cryin. jeezum. i saw some jam band at the Bayou before it shut. not a memorable band, but a memorable venue. I went to that Metro place a couple times, but not for live music. Their phone number was one digit off from ours at Q Street, and we used to get calls for it all the time.
ReplyDeleteWait. Does this mean Kim Deal is involved?
ReplyDeleteI too saw a jam band at the Bayou, I think it was Blue Highway. I saw remy Zero and Buckcherry at Metro, if you can believe that.
ReplyDeleteFun Fact: the lead singer from Remy Zero dated Jennifer Love Hewitt.
ReplyDeleteQuick poll: will Jennifer Love Hewitt ever find true love? What about Anniston?
My answer is no, never.
Current line up for The Breeders: Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, José Medeles (drums) and Mando Lopez (bass).
ReplyDeleteI think Aniston and Hewitt will find love in their 40s. They will marry an attorney/restaurateur/pediatric surgeon. Aniston just turned 40 in Feb., while Hewitt turned 30 the same month. Hewitt can control thoughts through "cybertronic" technology. Did you know that? Ask Diana Napolis.
I only know what I read in US, which is that JLH has trust issues, and Anniston is needy and clingy. No mention of cybertronics.
