My Pet Peeve...

Can someone please explain to me (PostRock shout out) why the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is inducting rap, country, and jazz musicians? It's horseshit. Why do Run DMC (who I love) and Miles Davis (not so much) deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Frankly, I'd put Billy Squier in before them. Have the voters not seen the "Rock Me Tonite" video?

It's also pretty funny that they're inducting Metallica at the height of their low (to quote Potsy). In my opinion Metallica forfeited their chance at the Hall once they released Some Kind of Monster.

Two words: Jann Wenner

I just read up on Jann Wenner. The guy stacked the nominating committee w/ a bunch of his former employees. He also changed the results of the ballot one year so Grandmaster Flash would be inducted instead of the Dave Clark Five. The guy seems like a real doosh.

*ding!*

Agree fully.

Which isn't to say one genre or another didn't have an influence on R&R, but would Metallica be inducted into the Hip Hip Hall Of Fame? Methinks not...

BTW, has anyone noticed that I changed the quote up top of this site to Pres Camacho's State of the Union address?

You're welcome

I noticed. Well done. Very topical considering our current economic downturn. Obama needs to take the best of both Camacho and Not Sure and lead us out of this shit.

"...But I got a solution."

To rock, right?

well, in the movie, the solution was appointing uber-smart time traveler Luke Wilson to fix things, but in this case we can consider him as a metaphor for "rock", yes.
