Super Tuesday

So I ventured down to the National Mall Sunday for the Inaugural "We Are One" concert.

It was cold. I saw a guy fall out of a tree. There were a couple of dudes from "The Wire" nearby, and U2, Bruce Springsteen, and others performed in front of 400k people. Most of the Youtube videos from the day have been taken down thanks to HBO. But here's one that's still up.

Shakira knows how to dress, no matter the weather.

If you can stomach it, here's another clip of Garth Brooks' performance (which had the greatest response from the crowd, quite honestly).

Congrats, Obama. Now get to work.

So what was it like being there for the show? I watched a bit on HBO. It wasn't really what I expected. A little too polished. But anytime you get a chance to see that many big bands for free, it's worth checking out. Am I right?

There were some moments that I could have done without. The Tom Hanks reading about Abe Lincoln's melancholy nature was a bit over done; and the fact that when Lincoln "stood erect, he measured 6 feet 4 inches" made a lot of folks in my section laugh like 3rd graders (myself included).

The sound wasn't that great, but I'm guessing it was better through HBO's telecast than it was through the crap speakers that were set up outside.

Jamie Foxx was a highlight. His Obama impersonation was hilarious.

But yeah, being down on the Mall with all those people, and having the likes of Springsteen, U2, and Stevie Wonder perform for free was pretty cool.
