The Metric System

I used to consider Metric a bit of a secret. I always liked their early stuff and thought it was cool when they got played on WOXY. Clearly, the secret is out. Not only is their 6/18 show at the 9:30 Club sold out already but my wife is now a fan. We heard "Help, I'm Alive" on the radio this evening and she said, "Oh, I like this song!" If Mrs. Slice knows a band, they must be huge.

Check out the video for "Sick Muse" below. You can also use this widget thing to stream their new album, Fantasies. Nice, huh? One more thing. Emily Haines? Wow.

Jimbromski, I'm guessing Metric is on at least one of your Estrogen and Tonic mixes. If not, they should be.

not on the mixes as of now, this latest album hadn't come out when I made those.

I agree, I do see at least the possibility of Coldplay-type massiveness in this band's future. Hope this guest list thing works out, I want to see this.

I was thinking of review titles and "Metric System" came to mind. Action was: REJECTED...reason was: TOO OBVIOUS.

back to the drawing board Senor Slice.

ahhhh

these songs are pretty catchy, there's like 4-5 good tracks on this album. mainsteam 94.7 arrow music but we all need that in our lives, don't we?

Yeah, I half-assed the title on this one. How about Metric Fun (instead of ton)? Metrication is too obscure. Let me work on it...

not gonna tell you what I have in mind because I need to save my best material for myself. if we get shut down at the will call then, and only then, shall I reveal my title unto you.

Not really my cup of tea, but "Sick Muse" is kinda catchy. Definitely a radio-friendly tune which I could also see being played on Gossip Girl.

Wasn't Emily Haines in some other band?

She's in a couple other bands: Broken Social Scene and Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton. I haven't listened to the latter but BSS is excellent.
